[3.03a] My experience with #WINDOW and docking in CMUD 3.03a |
Aside from the fact that I already have 1 pending bug report on docking, here is my additional experience.
I have an empty session (Main.pkg) and a package (Core.pkg).
1) From the command line I've created the "Talks" window: #WINDOW "Talks" and made it floating (it was docked to the top of the main window by default) by dragging it to the center of the screen
2) I've add this code to the onLoad event handler in the package:
| Code: |
(onLoad event handler)
cs_sessionWinName = %window
#EXECWIN @cs_sessionWinName {#WINDOW "Info"}
#EXECWIN @cs_sessionWinName {#WINDOW "Errors"}
|
After CMUD restart I made both Info and Errors windows floating (they were tabbed to each other by default) and restart CMUD once more.
What I get in result:
| Code: |
- <window name="Main" width="1680" height="931">
<uid>{260DD46A-B344-4263-8744-1A076FF9E5F0}</uid>
<packages>English Keypad|Core|English Directions|Clickable URLs|Main</packages>
</window>
- <window name="Talks" commandline="false" statusbar="false" dockalign="Top" host="none" id="1">
<uid>{BD1AC5AE-48F7-40A8-95F3-6A252588EF5E}</uid>
<dockuid>{260DD46A-B344-4263-8744-1A076FF9E5F0}</dockuid>
</window>
- <window name="Errors" commandline="false" statusbar="false" host="none" id="2">
<uid>{FE351827-A8E9-4BF1-9F7E-9EBF88EF378F}</uid>
<dockuid>{260DD46A-B344-4263-8744-1A076FF9E5F0}</dockuid>
</window>
- <window name="Info" commandline="false" statusbar="false" host="none" id="3">
<uid>{A745E745-5425-4A1D-89AC-D493D84C65BF}</uid>
<dockuid>{FE351827-A8E9-4BF1-9F7E-9EBF88EF378F}</dockuid>
</window>
|
1) All child windows do not have any references to packages although GUI indicate that each of them has Main.pkg checked.
2) They still keep the "dockuid" tag for no reason. It can be deleted only manualy from the XML view tab.
3) GUI still show Position=Top for already floating Talks window. I tried to change it in the GUI from "Top" to "Floating". After that Talks window becomes unable to receive focus (its has pale header color - inactive window). I click on it, it gets focus and then instantly transfers back to the main window. More, if I turn on the command line for it, all output from goes to the Main window. Holding Shift while loading session does not help. All new windows, created from the Main window command line with #WINDOW command also have this "feature". I found that the problem was with that "dockuid" tag. Deleting it manually from the XML view tab resolve the problem
Conclusion: I can't tell for sure what changes to docking and XML have been made, but they definitely were and not to the best. |

I'll add this to the bug list. It certainly seems like there is a problem with the XML not realizing that the window is floating. Usually the saved window layout file will override the window properties in your package file, so I'm not sure why your floating windows aren't still floating when you reload the session, but I'll look into it. I have some floating windows in my own session that load correctly with my session, so I can compare them to see what is different from yours.
