[3.01] map updates in offline mode

v3.01 has successfully converted my 14,000 room map, Yay!

I am playing with it in offline mode. Typing in direction commands successfully changes my location, as shown by #location. However, the map window is not refreshed. The mark on the map is not updated. If I move another window in front of the map window, then bring the map window to the front again, the location is correctly updated. When moving around in online mode, the map window kept itself properly refreshed.

I have found a second problem which appears to be related. When I am seeing the problem described above, in offline mode, I open the Room Properties window. I start in room A. I then move to room B, next door. The Room Properties window continues showing the data for Room A. I move another window to the front then move Cmud to the front again, as described above. The Mapper window is updated, but the Room Properties room still shows Room A.

At first I thought this was unrelated. However, I then created a new location: '#location testloc 100107'. I used #track to start tracking the new location. I then used #track to track my original location. Now, both the Mapper window and the Room Properties window update correctly. Both problems have disappeared.

This happens consistently. I close the Room Properties and Mapper Windows, reopen them, and the problem recurs. I use #track to change which location I follow, and the problem disappears. My mud appears to be down right now, so I cannot test this in online mode.

Hm. It is possible that somehow my Room Properties window was set to follow 'None', which explains why the Room Properties window was not following my movement. This appears to be causing several problems. I am posting a separate note about that.

Not sure what you mean by "offline mode". The mapper has Off, Follow, Map modes that are enabled by the buttons in the mapper toolbar. Also, the Speedwalk modes (Fast, Safe, Slow) can also effect this, so be sure to report what speedwalk mode is set.

If the map is in "Off" mode, then it doesn't track or update or anything. If the map is in "Follow" mode, then it should update the map whenever a location on the current screen changes. If a location is not being tracked (as indicated by the drop-down menu at the bottom of the mapper), then the map doesn't update if a location on a different zone or level changes.

If the #LOC command is showing your location as updating and the map itself is not showing this, try entering the command:

#TRACK LocationName

to make sure the mapper is tracking the given location. If it still doesn't work, the you'll need to give me more specific instructions on what you are doing to reproduce this.

By offline mode, I meant that I was not connected to the mud. The map was in Follow mode. I did find that #track fixed it, but it would stop tracking again the next time I opened the map. However, it doesn't seem to be happening today. I'll keep an eye on it.

When Offline, you need to make sure the speedwalk mode is set to FAST. When Offline CMUD is not receiving any text from the MUD to confirm your movements. CMUD tries to display the room name, description, exits on the screen itself when you are offline, but it doesn't necessarily use the same format as the MUD, so the #OK triggers for the following might not be getting matched. But the general rule is that you must use Fast mode when playing with the mapper offline.

If you find a way to reproduce the problem, send me the files and procedure.
