Nothing is going to be done to zMUD, for it has completed it's journey in application progress. Have you tried using CMUD? It's been out for a couple years now, and might suit your needs now.

The full reasons for Unicode support being bad in v7.21 are quite complex. A rough answer is Zugg optomized the display routines for speed over the years that the Unicode standards were being worked out. Those optimizations changed the display interactions with Windows; and so when Unicode support was finally stable in Windows, zMud no longer used the Windows routines that provided Unicode support.
Charneus is quite right zMud is done. Zugg can't even compile the 7.21 version any more. It is in his plans to provide full Unicode support in CMud, and finally the tools he uses to make CMud are fully supporting Unicode. With that proper support base in place he will be able to build a version that has both optomisations and support. I am sorry to say that his rough timeline from last New Year's letter puts that about version about a year from now.
Right now your choices are somewhat limited, and the help we can provide is also somewhat limited. |
