Preview of V3.0 Mapper available for testing

As promised, I have uploaded a preview version of the v3.0 CMUDPro mapper. Note that I have only uploaded a new version of CMUDPro and *not* regular CMUD. Sorry to those who only have CMUD but I've only been making the new mapper in CMUDPro to start with and won't have a version of regular CMUD until I'm ready for the first official BETA version of the new mapper.

This preview version of CMUDPro 3.0 will try to convert your existing *.MDB map database files into the new *.DBM SQLite database file (*.DB is the normal SQLite file extension, so I just added an M to the end for Mapper).

This version *should* work just like the previous version of CMUDPro. I have tested a variety of mapper functions, including speedwalking and some scripting and it seems to be working pretty well. There haven't been any improvements...just straight conversion to the new database.

What I am interested in getting testing help with is to see if there are any map files that cannot be converted to the new format, or if there is some problem in the new mapper that worked in the previous version but doesn't work in the new version.

This new version has not been optimized in any way yet. Speed seems similar to the previous mapper, but I haven't done any extensive speed testing yet.

Also, be aware that this new mapper will ONLY CONVERT map files that were properly loaded into previous versions of CMUD, or into zMUD v7.21. If you have map files left over from previous versions of zMUD, they WILL NOT CONVERT into the new mapper. You *must* load your map into zMUD 7.21 or a version of CMUD before trying to load it into CMUDPro 3.0. I have no plans to support these old map files in the new mapper.

As always, please report problems with the new mapper to a NEW POST in this forum and start your Subject with [v3.0] so that everyone will know what version you are talking about. Also, if you have a *.MDB map file that doesn't convert, you'll probably need to email it to me at sales@zuggsoft.com so that I can test it here.

I'll be gone all next week and won't be posting to the forums very much, so any testing you can do while I'm gone will help me fix the problems in the first BETA version of the mapper that I plan to release in the middle of August. Thanks very much for your help.

Oh yes, before you click on the link below: **THIS IS IMPORTANT**: This CMUDPro v3.0 uses the same files as your current CMUDPro version. So BE SURE TO MAKE A BACKUP of your existing CMUDPro files. Once you convert a map file to the new format, you'll need to use CMUDPro v2.35 or later to still load your old map file. If you try to use an older version of CMUD/CMUDPro, it will still try to load the new map file and will fail.

OK, here is the download link: http://www.zuggsoft.com/files/cmudpro300_setup.exe

Have fun!

Removing this sticky since the 3.0 mapper preview is old now and I've fixed so much stuff in it already. I'll announce the 3.01 alpha version in a week or so.

Awesome, I can't wait.

Is this still phase 1, or have you moved into phase 2?

Still phase 1. Phase 1 needs to be tested and debugged via a beta cycle before I can move to phase 2.
