Is anyone testing the v3.0 mapper preview?

I'm a bit surprised to come back after a week and not see any problem reports for the 3.0 mapper preview version. Has anyone been able to test this? Or is it just working perfectly in it's first version? (I'd find that rather hard to believe).

I know it might be a problem that it only works for CMUDPro users, but I'd hope that there are enough CMUDPro users out there who could give it a try.

Otherwise I'm just going to go ahead and work towards a beta release. But it sure would be nice to know if there are problems with the new database before then.

In other words, please post both good news *and* bad news. You don't just have to post when there is a problem. If a new version works you can post that too. Right now with absolutely no feedback it makes me think that I wasted my time putting together a preview version.

Er, there actually were two or three reports of problems converting maps... Plus a problem with %mapfilter... All in this forum.

I got the following error and pretty much could not proceed after that. I'll give it another shot tonight though. I admit I did give up a bit quickly rather than keep clicking through the same error messages.

Not sure how I missed Tech's post Embarassed

On the %mapfilter stuff, it wasn't clear if this was working in 2.35 or not. The poster was talking about differences between zMUD and CMUD and it wasn't clear if the problem only existed in v3.0 or not.

Plus, nobody sent me any map files to test yet. Without the files to test I can't do anything to fix it since all of the local map files I have tried myself have all worked so far.

I'm pretty sure I mentioned in one of my last posts for that thread that it *does work* under 2.35.

To be honest I really doubt exact map files mean anything towards this problem because I had no trouble whatsoever during conversion process into 3.0.

I can send them though sure if you think they're needed for running the %mapfilter code sniplet in question in that thread.

Yes, it would still be useful to have it to test the %mapfilter code. I did some basic %mapfilter stuff today and couldn't find a problem.

Sent it to sales@zuggsoft.com, as a .rar. Used Hotmail and it didn't let .mdb file through.

Hopefully it will arrive. Added CMud etc within the subject line.

Evil Me: That Compact Map Database feature sure looks tempting!
Me: Yeah...don't touch that.
Evil Me: But...but, it's so big and shiny! And it's calling my name. See?
[Evil Me uses pantomime and a high, squeaky voice to pretend CMD is calling to him]
Me: No, seriously, stay away from that. It'll delete the map data.
Evil Me [eyes wide]: it will? Well, umm, oops?

Mr. Green
You've already explained away the one issue I've come across thus far. Converts perfectly, makes CMud go noticeably faster (probably caused by my general lack of packages and complex scripts in addition to my tiny 11,000-room/107-zone map), and the Simutronics mapping support still works like a charm.

My next big decision will be whether to work on moving over all the supporting scripts to handle the special gameworld features or continue poking around in this SQLite mapper version.

Progonoi: I received your file. It was a bit weird though...the raw data of the RAR file was embedded into the middle of the message. Looks like the email program you used doesn't handle file attachments properly. But in addition to showing the raw data in the message, I was still able to extract the file attachment and save it, so I got the file ok.

Well, I'm not using any email program, just sent it via web browser (Firefox) and my Hotmail's account.
I haven't sent rar archives in the past by Hotmail though so I don't know how to comment the outcome you got.
Excellent that you got the file, though.
