[2.29] [SOLVED] [DELETE]: Multimedia keyboard key's blocked. |
Using a fair standard PS2 Keyboard, while waiting for my new keyboard to arrive, I noticed that next/prev/stop/play pause and mute, nothing else. is suddenly blocked when my window is focused on cmud, the moment focus turns to another program they work again?
Edit: using vista 64 bit. Don't know if that helps or can be a quirk related to it. |

I have no idea. The media keys on my Logitech G15 keyboard work fine while I'm in CMUD (on Vista Business 32 and also in XP).
There is no such thing as a "standard keyboard" that has media keys. Each manufacturer handles media keys differently, all in their specific keyboard driver. You should look for an updated driver for the keyboard. I can't imagine what CMUD might be doing that would block the media keys if they are calling the standard Windows media functions. |

And if they are reprogrammable media keys check the programming settings for them. One of my desktops has an HP Keyboard that comes with the Compaq Presario... and it had issues with its "standard" default programming settings while in some programs. For instance in certain parts of MS Office the internet shortcut key wouldn't work. Once I reporgrammed it to go directly to firefox instead of using the default "grab the default browser" it worked fine. I'm sure thats a bad programming of the driver issue, but I don't know. Never really messed with that kind of stuff.

it is 'standard' multimedia keys, something changed between 228, and 229, in 228 it worked fine 229.
The multimedia keyboard has no special drivers its just a standard run of the mill ps2 keyboard. with standard ps2 drivers. |

What I was saying is that Windows has no "standard" for media keys. There isn't any magic keystroke message that can be sent from a keyboard to perform media functions. "Standard" PS2 keyboards don't have any media keys. If there isn't a special driver, then the keyboard itself is sending some sort of Windows messages to the application that currently has the keyboard focus, rather than sending codes to a driver. That means it's up to the application itself to process the messages. I am not aware of any changes made to how CMUD processes keyboard messages between 2.28 and 2.29. So I'm completely clueless as to what would cause this.
You can always install 2.28 again from http://www.zuggsoft.com/files/cmud228_setup.exe and install it to a different directory on your computer to verify that it really did work in 2.28 and that this hasn't been caused by some sort of other change on your computer. |

Found it, it seems to be Vista 64 related issues not cmud, though odd that it manifests in this way. Resetting keyboard drivers fixed it.
