[2.2x] Docked Mapper File Dialog Focus Wierdness |
Ok, so I've done this twice now, and it's kinda obscure, but if the mapper is docked, and you go "File -> Open", then you click on another application in the task bar (eg I wanted to locate the MDB file on my server and copy it locally to my CMUD directory), then click back on "CMUD" on the task bar, the "Open" dialog box actually goes behind the main CMUD window and can no longer be retrieved... which means CMUD appears to lock up (since every time you click anywhere, it's doing the "no I have a dialog open" beep, but you can't dismiss the dialog), and you have to end-task it.
This only happens when the mapper is docked, when it's undocked, the focus always returns to the "Open" dialog as it should. |

Yep, this is part of the incompatibility between the mapper and the new window docking system in CMUD that I plan to fix during the mapper rewrite. I believe it's also related to the Windows issue with stay-on-top windows. You'd think that Windows could keep a modal dialog (like the File/Open) on TOP of the application no matter what. But no. I've had this happen in other apps too, so it's not just CMUD. But hopefully I'll be able to figure out a work around when I start working on the mapper...hopefully soon if I can get CMUD 2.x stable enough.
Btw...nice to hear from you Rainchild, it's been a while ;) |

So many tricks to fool the operating system into doing what you need it to do... hehe, that's programming for ya.
I've been lurking a lot... I usually visit the site daily but don't have a lot to say since I don't MUD anymore. Sometimes I have a little play for old times sake and put in my 2cp :) |
