Suggestion: Split Command Box? |
So, I'm often in the habit of typing out something when someone says something I want to respond to. It's not difficult to ctrl+a, ctrl+x. However, as someone who likes thinking about ideas and such, I thought: "what if you could split your command box". What this would do, and it wouldn't be default, is allow you to have two separate command boxes. So you could be typing in one, need to make a quick response and simply switch to the other, type in the commands and then hit enter, returning to what you were typing...

Not sure what the Cmud equivalient is but in Zmud pushing the down arrow key would store the currents contents of the command line into history, and clear the box. Then after sending your short message to the mud pushing up (or down I can't remember which) will allow you to start cycling through the history, and get your original text back.

Erasmus and Fang are correct about how to use that feature. But your suggestion is also interesting and something I'll keep in mind. In the future I want to add more integrated "chat" features into CMUD, which would involve multiple chat windows or command lines. Sort of how MMOs like WoW handle multiple chat channels. They you could have a window/command line dedicated to chatting with a specific person and CMUD could automatically prepend the "tell Player1 " to the begging of whatever is typed in the command line, and stuff like that.
It's not going to happen until after the mapper rewrite though. Too many ideas, too little time ;) |

ctrl+a and ctrl+x sound easier
But that's good to know. I thought typing down would simply send both commands |
