Connection problems, cMud - Vista |
Hi!
Wonder if anyone have a suggestion for a solution for me? Just bought a new PC and upgraded from XP to Vista, and got errors when trying to install zMud 7.21. Since ive been an active mudder since 1991, i thought i could support Zuggsoft by buying the new cMud as well as a new mud-client - i've always been happy with zMud.
Problem is that i cannot connect to -some- muds when installing cMud. Here is what i have done so far:
1) Disabled the DEP, as described in other posts here.
2) Ran the "netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disable"
Still had problems, but realized that the only muds that seemed to be problems connecting to was muds with port 23 - Muds using other ports (ex 3000 or 4100 of the sample muds) i could connect to.
Didn't know if it would have any use, but checked that telnet was active on my new Vista by checking it in the windows features.
Still problems. I can ping the host without problems and also connect to the muds (port 23) via telnet/putty, but in cMud they keep reconnecting.
Any ideas?

Sounds like a software issue - firewall, antivirus, proxy server, something like that. Lots of firewalls, especially firewalls in routers, come with an option to automatically block traffic on ports less than 1024 unless whatever's trying to do it is whitelisted. Try disabling all that stuff and see if that works.
