keep losing main window

not sure how to go about fixing this one. when i minize cmud, and then later restore it, all my windows pop-up, however... the main window, that gets everything from the mud is gone. no bar, no title nothing... i know i'm still connected, because my captures are still sending to the other windows, and everything, my triggers are still firing, and i'm getting input. but... the main window is gone, and i cannot bring it back. i have moved the toolbar to a different window, so i'm able to get to file - edit - window - ect ect ect. i click on window, and i see the main window name in there, i click it but nothing. if i right click the cmud on the taskbar, i get restore and close, but if i click restore, i get nothing, and if i click close, it freezes my system. this isn't the first time that this has happened, it happens almost daily, sometimes twice a day, and its starting to get frustrating. any help would be greatly appreciated, or any questions, just ask an i can get you that information. not sure what else to put in here tho... =**[

All I can say is to try the shift trick.
Hold down shift when you open the session off-line.
Move the windows where you want them.
Save the session layout.

Holding Shift will force CMUD ignore your layout file. You'll need then rearrange your windows again.

Is there something specific you're doing that's making this happen, too? Are your scripts doing something in the background, perhaps, like creating or removing windows?

newp.... nothing going on in regards to working with windows. once a window is up (at initial load) it stays up. =[ i've just loaded it onto my xp machine at home, gonna use this all weekend, and see if its just my vista box, or if it is something that i'm doing... very frustrating tho. =[

How exactly are your windows docked together? Is the main window undocked or something? If the windows are all docked together, then I don't see how the main window can suddenly disappear. If you have windows that are undocked, then maybe those windows are hiding behind the main window somehow?

Moving things like the main menu bar to subwindows is not really tested and might cause problems too.

well... yea.... i musta taken a stupid pill that day. =[

moving the menu bars to the other windows works great!! nice way to keep the main window clutter free, and make nice status bars. and move them to windows that don't get alot of tlc...

and to answer my lost window... when it got minimized, it didn't go to the taskbar, it was minimized like the old school windows 3.1... up above the taskbar, and it was hidden behind another window that i had open, it wasn't until i accidentally closed that sub window, that i saw it hidding behind there, and restored it. POOF! like i said... musta taken stupid pills.... =[ LoL

Oh, yeah, that's normal. There is a setting for each window that says whether or not to create a task-bar icon for it. You can right-click on the system icon in the upper-left corner of the window to view that option. In Windows (yes, even in Vista), if a window *without* a task-bar icon is minimized, then it gets minimized instead to that area above the task bar that you are talking about (yes, like in Win 3.1). If a window *does* have a task-bar icon, then it properly minimizes to it's task bar like it should. Most applications these days create a task bar icon by default for any window that can be minimized, so most apps don't show this behavior.
