I was thinking about organizing some of my output text into columns and realized that to do it properly I ought to know the column width of the current window. Cmud obviously knows how many characters of the current font fit on a window, in order to do line wrapping. I suggest making that value available to the users in a pre-defined variable or function. I guess it would be a bit more complicated than that. Since font size can change within a line, cmud must calculate the wrapping point with each line. It's definitely not a big issue, but it would be a nice, tiny feature.
