Size of status bar |
Is there any way to increase its size, maybe make it double height sort of like the Window's Task bar?

You may try to use status window instead - just get it docked below the main window and set it (status window) has any height you like.

I thought about it, but I don't know where I'd be comfortable with it yet. I'm not sure I want it below the main window per se. But that's probably the best place for it.
