The mapper in CMUD |
I've been working on a map, but I find I want to connect one zone to another. Usually I can just start in one zone, turn the tracer on and walk into the next zone. But sometimes one room will connect to multiple zones or what not (or have multiple connections to the other zone. When I walk into the new zone, I get a room in the middle of nowhere, I delete the old one and hook the new one up. So, if I have to make multiple connections, I lose all the old zone connections by deleting. How can I just manually connect zones through rooms?

You can merge rooms (there's an option on the rclick menu), or you can set the vnum that an exit links to manually.

Or, if you can actually get it to work, you click-drag the link to your zone list, select the zone it is going to, then click on the room face you want to connect to.
The problem being that 99% of the time you can't select the link and so have to do it manually.
You select Properties for the room. Go to the exits tab. Select the exit you want to change, and then click on the # sign in the top right corner. This brings up a prompt for the room number(from the upper left corner of the properties page) to connect to. This does not automatically link it to a previously detected exit, but it creates one so be sure you don't have a duplicate exit in the destination room afterwards or else speedwalking doesn't like it. |

Make sure the map is in edit mode. (Yes, that's gotten me a number of times.)
