Cmud Mapper |
So I used zmud for a long while and mapped thousands of rooms with no problems.
But with the cmud mapper I cannot click and select links. So I can't click and drag room links to change them. I can't right click them to turn off one way rooms. I can however click and select rooms, but if I hit the delete key, it will delete a room, but after that it won't work. So...i select a room, hit the delete key, confirm message pops up, I delete it. I select another room, hit the delete key and nothing happens.
This is driving me nuts.

|

That is correct, because of interface problems certain features of the mapper are not available. You must delete and re-create links manually. However, re-linking does work, but use it at your own risk.

A major re-write of the mapper is planned.
It was basically ported strait from Zmud and was not built from the ground up to work with Cmud.
Some fixes were made and some features were added but,
the interface still isn't working quite the way everyone including Zugg would like it to.
So sadly this probably will not change until the re-write. |

Oftentimes I find if I try to set doors/one-way/etc using the mouse I end up doing the operation to the wrong exit. Othertimes I can't seem to get the exit properly selected, instead merely getting the map-level right-click menu containing only the Center menu option. The last major hangup I have is that if you select multiple rooms and then try to use the mouse to select multiple other rooms via mouse-dragging, sometimes a random link will unlink itself from the room it used to be set to and now I'm stuck in a relink situation with multiple rooms selected (and usually with the offending room off-screen so I'm not real sure where the link was supposed to originally go).
Thus, if I have to do any link work I always do it via the Room Properties window. It's faster, more precise, and I don't have to deal with messups. |

Welcome to the world of the mapper under CMUD. Those are common experiences. We'll have to wait for the upcoming major rewrite. That is why I said to use re-link at your own risk. The safest way to re-link is by changing the room number in the link entry in the exits section. When using this method, make sure you go to the target room and delete the extra link that will be created otherwise the link won't work and when you try to execute the link, the mapper will just create a new room in that direction.

Most of these problems occur because the mapper doesn't understand cmud's docking system. It's not always sure whether it has focus or not, or what you're clicking or have selected. Undocking the mapper (and thus removing the interaction with the docking system) will often help with these problems.

My mapper crashes CMUD (complete freeze-up without any error message) when I use a custom exit, such as "enter archway." I've tried it both docked and undocked, neither works for me, unfortunately. Next time I make it happen, I'll try to use Spy++ or something to see if I can tell what CMUD's doing with the CPU cycles...

Custom exits must be executed via aliases. If you put a complex exit in directly, it will cause CMUD to crash. I've stated this in a different thread. Putting triggers or other commands in the script section of the properties box will cause CMUD to crash even if the room is not the target of the speedwalk, it suffices that the room is in the path to the target. This also applies to the "other" box in the exits section.
