[2.21] session icon corruption |
While using CMUDPro (unregistered) the Aardwolf paid for icon has it's connection info removed when creating a new session icon.
Install using the defaults except for running from installer. (Just what I happened to do most likely not important)
Finish installer and run CMUDPro from start menu. (Just what I happened to do most likely not important)
Cancel the zMUD import wizard.
Hover over the Aardwolf icon until the tip displays and you can see the connection info present.
Now click New Session.
Now click Select from mud list.
Type 'dark sk' into the filter.
Double click Dark Skies in the list.
Hover over the Aardwolf icon until the tip displays and you will notice the connection info is no longer present.
I repeated this 3 times each time totally deleting the install directory and the my games\cmud directory it happened every single time following my steps.
After playing around some more with this the step I consider to be important is double clicking an entry from the mud connector and I believe it will blank or mess with the connection info for one of the other listed session icons. Put the session list into details view, delete a few sessions and create a new one from the mud connector list by double clicking an entry, you should definitely notice one of the sessions lose it's host name info and the port number gets set to 0.
If you have problems reproducing let me know and I'll record a video of it happening. |

Confirmed and added to bug list. In my case it wasn't the Aardwolf icon. Putting the list in Details mode seems to really help see the problem. I haven't figured out how it decides which MUD to mess up with this, but it definitely happens.

Yep I noticed that on further playing with the problem and also couldn't determine which one it would mess up either. Perhaps ordering the details mode by date or some other value will shine some light. I'll mess with it when I'm on my own computer next and see if I can narrow it down for you.
I've retitled the post considering that it isn't one particular session icon nor particularly the paid ones and I'll add it to the online list. |

Well, I found this one. It actually didn't have anything to do with double-clicking a MUD in the list. Just clicking the "Select from MUD List" link was enough to do it. Click on that link, and then click on the "MyMUDs" tab at the bottom to get back to the main session list and you'll see a session with it's host info cleared.
It was clearing the host info of whatever session happened to be the current record in the session database. So it was often the first record in the database, but since other operations can change the database record, it could appear somewhat random.
In any case, it is fixed for v2.22.
Also, while I was fixing this bug, I enabled a new ComCtrls6 feature in the ListView component called the "Tiled" view. In this view, you get the large icons, and then two lines of text to the right of the icon. The upper line of text is the normal session title. The lower line of text shows the Host:Port information. The only thing I needed to do to enable this view was to combine the existing Host and Port columns into a single "Host:Port" column. This is the column that gets displayed in the second line of text in the Tiled view.
Tiled view is only available on versions of Windows that have the v6 of the Microsoft COMCTRL32.DLL file. This is Windows XP, Win2003, and Vista. But I also put a conditional test into CMUD so that if it is an older version of Windows (such as Win2000), this feature is disable. This should prevent CMUD from crashing on Win2000 and yet enable this new feature for the supported versions of Windows.
The Tiled view is the default session view in new installations of CMUD. You can always change the view by right-clicking the sessions list and selecting a different view from the menu. I personally like the look of the Tiled view very much, so I'll be interested in your comments when you try it in the new version. For existing installations, you'll need to manually select Tiled from the right-click View menu. |
