YAHOO email users: Important Notice |
I have recently had a flood of support requests from customers who are either not receiving their automated emails from our server (reg codes and passwords) or are not getting my replies to their support requests.
If you are using a yahoo.com email address and you haven't gotten an expected email from us within 48 hours, please try whitelisting support at zuggsoft.com and sales at zuggsoft dot com, then resend your request.
If anyone has any actual details about any upgrades or changes to spam filtering that Yahoo may have done since December, please let me know.
Please pass the word. |

It isn't just Yahoo, its a lot of them all of a sudden. I had to add zuggsoft to my gmail whitelist as well. I would guess that zuggsoft.com got added to one of the black hole lists out there for some reason.

I'm not sure about that. We seem to be communicating with other customers, including gmail, just fine. But if anyone finds that zuggsoft.com has been added to any of the spam lists, please let me know. I've contacted Yahoo about the problem and will let you know what I learn.

Agreed, I posted about this in CMUD General Discussion. I had already requested of gmail back at the end of Dec. to permanently whitelist the domain, and I got a reply back that they would look into it.

Bumping this back to Sticky status because Yahoo is still causing people trouble with this. We have still be unable to get anyone at Yahoo who can provide us any information on why this is happening.

If I recall right last time I needed cmud registration code maybe... 2 months ago I had similar problem, Emails were dirrected to junk mail... on other hand, I've had problems in past 2 weeks with gmail catching replied conversations and putting them in spam folder. Maybe they changed spam mail alogrythms?

That's because the mail from "support" is coming from a person, and the mail from "sales" is coming from the automated PHP script that generates your license code and sends it to you. And Yahoo is blocking the email from "sales" because it thinks it is spam, even though it has a very low spam score according to SpamAssassin. Like I said above, all you can do is either complain to Yahoo that they are deleting your valid email, or switch to a different email provider. You can easily create a free GMail account and use it to receive your zMUD license keys.
I have still had no luck getting any response from Yahoo on this, so until enough customers complain about it, it seems like Yahoo is going to continue to delete your valid email without your permission.
You can try adding "zuggsoft.com" to your "white-list" of acceptable email senders, but since Yahoo won't even tell me why or how it is deleting our email, I have no idea if that will help or not. |

No blacklisting for your mail server at Wolfpaw (204.209.44.106). The PHP script send throught your mail server or use other server or component ??

It sends from our server using the normal PHPMailer stuff. When I send a license key to myself and then scan it with both SpamAssasin and Barracuda, the spam scores are between 0 and 2, which should be low enough for most anyone. Yahoo is doing something completely different. From what I can tell, they dynamically blacklist sites that they receive a lot of email from. It's possible that sending out the yearly Newletter in January triggered this somehow. That's the only thing I have been able to figure out from their published information. And I have yet to be able to contact a real person at Yahoo who can help with this. All I get back is automated responses asking for server logs. I send the logs (which, of course, don't show anything on my end) and then never hear back from them.
