The Socks4 and Socks5 proxy settings are only used for the actual Telnet connections. You need to also fill in the server/port of your Web proxy in the section at the bottom of the proxy screen. That is the proxy used for HTTP connections (like getting updates).
However, yes, this is also a bit inconsistent. Some parts of CMUD (like the crash dump system) use the Windows WININET.DLL network library instead of raw sockets, and that library gets it's web proxy information from Internet Explorer. So even if you use Firefox on your computer, you need to go into your Control Panel and then into Internet Options and set the proxy information used for your web browser there. |
