Disclaimer: this may, in fact, be the same bug reporting in this thread, but I hope it adds some clarification, at least.
The following script, in a blank session, causes the exception when the "testgui" alias is called:

Confirmed, and bug report sent from my system. Crash occurs immediately after calling 'testgui' from the command-line.
