SSH Help |
I'm not new to the user side of SSH, but I am new to the admin side of SSH.
I just purchased CMud Pro because I wanted the SSH ability, would anyone be able to direct me to a forum thread that explains how to set it up, or give me a few instructions.
I perused the tutorials on the support part of zuggsoft.com, but didn't see anything, granted I could have missed it.
please, thank you anyone who can help. |

It's fairly simple. When you create your session, choose the SSH radio option instead of Telnet. In session preferences (the Prefs button on the toolbar after you open your session), you'll find an SSH tab all the way at the bottom left where you can alter settings such as compression and authentication options.

hmm.. wait, maybe I'm mistaken... I thought Cmud Pro offered an SSH client so that I could connect to my home computer, FROM work.
Is this not the case? Or is this merely an option to SSH OUT instead of telnet? |

CMUD contains an SSH client, which allows you to make outgoing connections (using SSH instead of telnet to connect). If I understand you correctly, you are looking for an SSH server, which would accept incoming connections (e.g. you connecting in from work), and I don't believe that CMUD includes one.

Indeed, CMUD doesn't include an SSH server for remote command sending. I suppose that when CMUD plugins become available, you could write a plugin that'd accept an incoming connection and then use SSH to contact the plugin.

I didn't realize that when you said "user" and "admin" what you really meant was "client" and "server." CMUD is a graphical application, so you'd need some sort of Remote Desktop type of setup to be able to use it remotely. I'm not sure if the new license setup for CMUD allows you to use Remote Desktop to run it or not, but I know the older license stuff forbid it.
You may be interested in CMUD Lite, though, when it's released. The Lite version will reportedly be free and easy to run from a USB drive or other portal read-write media. You could build your stuff in CMUD Pro (or standard) and then run it on any Windows PC using your CMUD Lite (and MyMUDs.com account).
In short, CMUD Pro is a client, not a server. The SSH feature is just another protocol, and it lets us *NIX types work in our shell accounts with the added benefit of triggers and aliases. |

The good news is, if you've had it less than thirty days, you can get a no-questions-asked refund.
