Package Library Download Taking Forever (a few bps speeds) |
This might not be so bad if the "Get Latest From Library" button launched a new thread, but I just spend 2.5 hours waiting for the 150k (approx) file to download and it's just not happening. If i watch the traffic in something like netlimiter, then i can see it send bursts of about 2.5k of data through, at gradually increasing intervals, up to the point where the traffic monitor can't actually see the last pulse of data. Worst part is, I don't even know if the data coming in is legit, or simply http request/response data. Cmud 2.18 Normal running atm.

Downloaded here in a couple of seconds, so I'd be inclined to blame it on contention or a routing problem on your line. Has anyone else had this problem?

Could someone post the actual url that it's downloading from? it's a http connection, so it's available if someone exposes the url. Then at least i can see if the browser lets it through properly etc.
I should also mention, this is the first time it's run, so it's not a simple update. If that changes things. |

Ok, i fixed it. I finally decided to get my wireless connection outta my bag and try it. So far speeds are way higher, and i can see this being finished in the near future. No idea why the wired connection was failing though. Security on this network is about as loose as ... well, small children might be reading.

I used the Get All from Library option on the File menu to make sure I was downloading the same file you were. Glad to hear you've found the problem, not so glad to hear it's with hardware :(
If you're lucky, you have a cable checking util - I got some with my motherboard that scan patch cables for physical problems with accuracy of apparently a few inches. In my old house, we had patch cables running all over the place, some in those plastic things running up the wall that cover up pipes. One of them apparently got too close to a hot-water pipe and the heat damaged the cable enough to cause it to fail - I wasn't chuffed (the spliced cable wasn't long enough any more to get where it needed to), but at least it found the problem. |
