Question about those forwarding dlls, Dharkael - if I happen to come across a library that's looking for some other name of lua.dll (like, say, lua51.dll) will it just be a case of creating a copy of the forwarding dll and renaming it, or would I have to do something more esoteric?

Yeah I can't see any reason why you couldn't just copy and rename the dll to lua51.dll.
The Forwarding Dll's don't actually contain any code they just forward the calls to lua.dll so yeah I'd say it would be a go for lua51 or anything similar.

Dharkael, Could you please upload the two dlls on another site other than megaupload? I'm not from the US so its really hard to get in, I don't want to install the mega upload toolbar either. Anyways, thanks for your help, I hope I can get it working.

I wasn't aware that location mattered (I just picked the first page google revealed) and you don't need to install a toolbar just enter in the 3 letter code and wait 45 seconds for the free download.
Anyways hopefully better luck with this site:

There's a spot near the bottom right corner that says
Save file to your PC: click here

EDIT: It takes a few moments before that text shows up, but it will.
