Another change in v2.17 that might need some testing |
When I was updating the documentation for Multiplaying in CMUD, I ran across some pretty bad problems using the :windowname: syntax. In particular, in zMUD you could do this:
window:command1;command2
and it would send *both* commands to the window. But in CMUD 2.16, it would send command1 to the window, but still run command2 in the current window. In the 2.17 Public version, I made a change to the parser so that it would handle this situation properly. I basically gave the "window:" syntax a higher priority than the ; operator.
Changing the parser like this can always cause possible side effects. I did a lot of testing last night and didn't see any problems myself, but this is another big change in v2.17 that should probably be tested to see if it causes any new problems.
I have updated the Multiplaying documentation for CMUD to reflect how the 2.17 version is supposed to work. It implements everything from zMUD now except that you cannot use a variable name for the window (use the new #EXECWIN command instead). And to send a command to all windows, you need to use *: instead of just : (or use the #ALL command). Otherwise it should be working a lot more like zMUD did now. |

I didn't see anything in the other post that was related to the "window:command" syntax.
