A Critical test is needed for the 2.17 Public version! |
Several months ago, some people were having trouble with editing in text boxes in CMUD. Using Backspace would not erase text, causing text to overwrite itself. We track this down to a problem with the COMCTL32.DLL library and the XP Manifest file that CMUD was using at the time.
The XP Manifest file is back in the 2.17 Public version, but I hoping that other changes (removing the theme system) have fixed the issue with the corrupted text boxes.
So, if you were one of those people who could reproduce the corrupted text boxes when backspacing problem, please test the 2.17 Public version ASAP and let me know if this problem has reappeared or not. I'm very interested in any new problems caused by the XP Manifest file that is linked into CMUD. That was the biggest change between v2.16 and 2.17. |

I'll be back in an hour or so after lunch to check for any emergencies.

I have some aliases and buttons and stuff that use text boxes for input. So far, nothing seems wrong at all. |

Great news! Thanks for checking this. What was interesting about this is that the Theme system was really fooling me. It was making past versions of CMUD *look* like they were native WinXP apps, but without the proper Manifest, they were *not* proper XP applications. And adding the Manifest on top of the Theme system seemed to cause this problem. Now that the theme system is removed and CMUD has the proper Manifest file, now it *is* a proper WinXP application. And once I upgrade to Delphi 2007 in January, then it will also be a proper Vista app with the appropriate Manifest file for Vista.
This should make CMUD much more stable and compatible and is one of the reasons it is working better with emulators now too. |
