how to stop echoing input on the screen (in yellow generall) |
I used to run v 3.x and 4.x but havent played in years ... I have baught v 7.2 and have to say I am a bit confused... I cannot figure out how to:
Turn off the 'echoed' commands ... every time I type something and hit enter it pops up on the screen in yellow.
I run multiple characters (3) at the same time... any way to get ONE command prompt line like the older versions, i.e. I can type commands on ONE prompt line at the bottom of the screen, and depending on which character's screen I am in when I hit return, it will send that given command to that ONE character. this is nice so I don;t have to retype the command over and over in 3 seperate command lines.
or really is there an older version available that will run on windblows XP so I can get these features back like I like em?:)
thanx for any help guys and dolls!

For echoing of commands: check in Preferences. I don't have zMUD here, but it's probably in the Command Line section, or maybe the Scripting section.
I believe the default is to only have one command line for all windows - I'm not sure how you got more! |

He means only having one, shared command line between all the windows. That's not posible - each window gets its own. If you want to repeat commands in all windows, though, you can use the #all command.
Command echo is in the preferences. |

It is possible just not nice.
Basically for each window you turn off the command line. This then makes the MDI parent show it's command line which often is the wrong size, floating behind windows etc which is why I said it isn't nice but if you manage to get it into the right place then it will behave the way you want it. |

and what is 'the MDI parent' ?
thanx again!

The MDI parent is the main ZMud window. This is the window with all the big buttons that let you open up the Settings Editor, Mapper, Database, and so on. Though you can't ever see it because of the docking system, if you were somehow able to peer behind the windows you'd just see a large grey area with nothing on it--similar to the CMud version when a game window loses its link to the mud output.

To turn off the command prompt for a window just right click on the window itself, I usually choose a spare black bit, and choose Window Options and untick Attached Command Line. Doing this for every window you have open will display the MDI parent command line as discussed.
I really can't stress this enough expect it to be somewhere very odd on your screen and very likely to be hidden behind another window. |
