mapper exits problem

trying to setup a map to be based on the overland hex map on my mud i play. i used zmapper to create a hex room, and linked the rooms by hand and everything is fine except one problem, when i go to follow mode and try to move, the position of the map does not change when i use the directions of north, east, south, or west. the nw,sw,ne,se directions work fine though. i tested by trying to send #map north;#OK but still nothing. Is there any reason why something like this would break or a way i could fix this problem? if i go to room properties and click the exits tab, the Dir and DirTo fields are blank when i try to use north east south or west, but look normal if i use the other directions. Any help to fix this would be great. Thanks

#MAP creates a path which is not what I think you want to do.

You say you linked the rooms by hand, but n,e,w,s aren't linked properly. This suggests to me that you linking exercise didn't go according to plan. Can you describe exactly what you're doing when you "link the rooms by hand"?

When you go to the exits tab if you don't see any definition for n,e,w or s; click on one of the blank link entries. Off to the right you will see two cardinal compasses (CC). The first represents the exit from the current room (Dir), e.g. north and the second represents what exit it connects to in the next room (DirTo), e.g. south.

Select the Dir direction (using the first CC). Click on the '#' (in the upper right hand corner of the window) and enter the room number you want to connect to. Once you've done this you can now set the DirTo direction (using the second CC).

I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other questions.
