[1.33] Access violation during instalation |
Hi,
I have a problem with installation of cMud on my Windows XP SP2 :(
When cMud tries to register COM server:
"C:\program files\cmud\cmud.exe" /REGSERVER
after a few seconds suddenly an error appears:
"Error: Access violation at 0x7C91F2B9 (tried to read from 0x00000000), program terminated."
Earlier I was using zMud 7.21 but now it doesn't start, before eaven splash screen appears, it generates similar error as cmud during instalation ("Error: Access violation at 0x5E84A260 (tried to write to 0x00340650), program terminated."
I have also old zMud ver. 5.55, and this one works fine!
Any help please? |

Are you installing as administrator? You need to be an administrator the COM service to register. You also check to make sure you have the appropriate read/write permissions for the directory you're installing too.

Yes I am instaling as an administrator and yes I have read/write permissions for the directory.
Mabey there are some problems with COM server service or sth? How can I check it? |

Not sure what to suggest. Looks like your Windows system is not allowing it to register the COM server and I haven't seen any problems like that in Win XP. It's possible that there is something on your system preventing the copy protection system from working. CMUD should be installed (the REGSERVER is the last thing the installer does), so go ahead and try running CMUD to see what happens. But the fact that you get an error when trying to run zMUD also leads me to think that something on your system is interfering with the copy protection system, especially since you don't ever see the splash screen.

You could try (while disconnected from the net) temporarily disabling you antivirus, adware/malware protection and firewall software while you install. Sometimes these programs can be a bit overzealous in their protections.
