[1.33] Windows defined in a package |
I have just started to convert some of my scripts into packages and in the process have run into a major issue. I am not sure if this is because I have a major flaw with my understanding of how things should work or if it is a bug in V1.33.
Very simply, start CMUD with new session and then create a new package (for example test). I now create a window within the new package. The window appears on the screen tabbed within the main session window. However, I would like this to be a floating window so I drag it out of the main window. At this point all seems fine. However, if I now shut the session down and re-open it the windows layout become very confused. It seems that both the main window and the window defined in the package become tabbed together in the package floating window. If I try and drag it back onto the main session window CMUD crashes.
Is it possible to create windows within packages? Should I be able to have these as floating windows? Is there a better way to do this? Or is this just a know problem in V1.33? |

This isn't a known issue that's been posted before as far as I remember, and I was able to reproduce it easily enough by following your instructions. It looked like all was working well until suddenly it wasn't and now CMUD is crashing. It's causing some persistent problems, too - I tried loading with a new layout and the second window simply vanished and nothing I can do will make it come back. Definitely a bug here.

Hmm, not sure what's happening here, but I've confirmed it and have added it to the bug list.

Zugg:
This problem with the undocked windows has been around for a fair while. I've never been able to figure out enough about it in the past to post a coherent bug report, (at least not with the time I've had available for such things) but its one of the issues that has made me give up on CMUD in the past. I simply don't like having my main window docked to the menu bar, and with zMud, never had to, the menu bar just floats and auto hides.. reappearing on mouse over. I suppose I may be a minority in that regard. I don't have much useful info to add to Jat's/Fang's posts, but I believe its been around for quite a while, which may or may not be useful info to you :) |

A lot of the bug reports you see on the forums are of the kind "I did this and it all went ttthhhpppppt" - bugs that are easily reproduced can be sent through CMUD's feedback system. It's normally stuff that warrants discussion or needs reproducing or that you want to know if other people have experienced that gets posted here. So don't be afraid just to post - all you really need is what you did, what CMUD did, and what you expected it to do.

I have similar problems with autohiding windows I use for chat-monitoring. When I close and reopen the session, the windows usually end up in random places other than where I saved them. I refer to it as the "windows explosion."

Do you get crashes when CMUD closes?
