Funny zMUD story |
So... zMUD is really the only coding I know how to do.
I was at work one day and they had this schedule in excel of games we were supposed to take photos of. There were 575 games.
The schedule looked like so --> Girls 11/12 White Havre de Grace vs Reisterstown 9.00 AM 6/10/07
They wanted me to create a directory structure for the games. A very big one like so.
--> Sunday
--> Girls
--> 11/12
--> 9.00 AM
--> Havre de Grace vs Reisterstown
Now this was supposed to take HOURS. Taking 575 games and creating folders/organizing them between 5 different categories.
With zMUD, notepad, and the window's command prompt I whipped together a little script and it went from an estimated 6 hours of work to 30 minutes.
My job was SO impressed they gave me a 20% raise!
<3 zMUD! Thanks Zugg! |

Wow, great story! Congratulations on the raise!
I always love hearing some of the innovative ways people use zMUD/CMUD outside of MUD playing. |

I've had plenty of times where the Regex I picked up through using zMUD has helped me out with reading and analysing logfiles.
Yesterday another guy in the office had a 43MB text file to filter through and pick out key parts to put into an excel spreadsheet. Using Notepad2 (another Scite based editor) we got the 43MB done in 5 mins once I had a few expressions to search for |
