[1.27] HIGH Possible Script Loss with Background Update

This has been slight touched on by Zugg when he was discussing the Reformatting bug, but sometimes when you're are editing especially when you pause in your typing at a point that considered a syntax error (I noticed mainly around open and closing parentheses for functions) it is possible for you to lose what you are typing. If seems as the lexer is trying to parse and highlight (and I believe background saving plays a factor) you can see your editor revert back to the last save point.

Luckily if you keep a cool head and use Ctrl-Z as an undo, then you are typically fine. But it can be a little confusing (at first) and annoying at best.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior?

As an FYI I noticed it when testing the file reading script that jed posted about a day or two ago. http://forums.zuggsoft.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=27068

I cannot reproduce this. Can you please provide more exact steps that I can use to see this happen? I've never had the editor revert to a previous save point all by itself. Are you doing this in a blank window, or do you have some alarms or scripts running in the background? Or are you connected to a MUD with text coming in? I'll need a lot more info to reproduce this, and it sounds pretty serious.

I didn't have a script go missing on me, but I did have my alias executing a half finished version that I hadn't yet saved, which caused problems, too.

Larkin, I'm not sure what problem you are reporting. If the alias hadn't yet been saved, then of course it can't be executed yet. Please provide more details on exactly what the problem is and how to reproduce it.

I was working in offline mode.

As a matter of fact since I was testing an alias from the forums I was working the untitled (default) session with 1 alias and 2 variables. So it was a fairly pristine environment. Unfortunately it's been erratic so I can't actively reproduce it.

Wish I could be more help. I spent some time trying to reproduce it earlier with no luck.
