major(?) crash

I can't exactly recall what I last did, but upon exiting cmud i got a BSoD, i think it was a pol_bool(sound familiar to anyone?) error. but basically now upon opening up cmud and trying to play again, my mapper won't work. i can fix the config as much as i want, it will find me but not follow me. my "." movement character no longer works, i can't #walk anywhere, and that is all i've cared enough to play with to do. any suggestions or maybe where i can find the location of the crash dump to show?

It's not possible for an application such as CMUD to cause a blue-screen (BSoD). Windows XP (and Vista) protect the memory that an application is allowed to access so that an application cannot crash the entire computer. Only system files such as drivers have access to all memory and can cause those errors. You should probably make sure you have the latest driver for your graphics card, network card, etc and run Windows Update to make sure you have the latest patches from Microsoft.

Other than driver problems, the only other way to get those blue screen errors is if some hardware on your computer is failing, such as memory or disk. I used to get those errors when my computer got overheated, for example.

If your mapper movement no longer works, click the Edit Session action for your session icon and go to the Files tab and make sure the "English Directions.pkg" package file is being loaded. That is the package which defines the various speedwalk directions such as n,s,e,w, etc. Without those, the mapper won't follow you.

the english directions.pkg is being loaded properly, and i'm thinking i just might try a fresh install of cmud, i just attempted to do a blank session to see if my english directions.pkg was corrupted and even trying to create that crashed cmud. i've been using cmud 1.26 for a few weeks without any major problems until now.
