Pausing during FAST-mode speedwalk using mapper

Wow, it's been a long while. But here's a question:
Using #walk, I want to be able to get to a room beyond a locked door. In order to get the key, I have to kill a mob, or get a specific item to open it. Does anyone know of a way to pause mid-speedwalk, complete what is required, then reactivate the speedwalk? I tried changing the mapper mode using %walkmode(2) when I enter the room on the mapper, do what needs doing, and then resume, but it doesn't work. Is starting the walk in Safe mode the only way to achieve this?
Thanks in advance.
Danlo (using zmud 7.13)

in the room properties tab for the room you want to pause in the maper select the pause when entering this room option. then you can use a combination of room scripts or triggers to do what you have to do and then continue the walk with #OK or #STEP etc etc

Thanks for the reply, nexela, but I've already tried that. All it does is stop the mapper from moving. It does also stop the next direction command for leaving that room, but if you're speeding several rooms past that room, it still sends those directions, too. If it works for you, maybe there is a setting I have different?
Thanks again,
Danlo

It was just a stab in the dark but I think thats how its supposed to work, I have never used fast mode I always use safe mode with is almost as fast as fast but more *safe* in staying in sync.

take a gander at this support document if you havn't already http://www.zuggsoft.com/page.php?file=library/speedwalking.htm

Thanks nexela. For some reason, pause when speedwalking option has started working.
