[1.21] copy/paste triggers |
in zmud you could copy/paste triggers to get an identical copy, very handy for changing details only. copy still seems to work in cmud (when pasting into an editor, i do get an xml structure). But paste doesn't result in a copy being displayed. something seems to happen though, as which each paste the tree structure showing the classes and triggers deflates. when trying several times, sometimes a copy appears, but not always.

It won't create a copy if a setting with that name already exists - the currently extant setting will be deleted and replaced with the new one. If there's no setting with that name, it's working fine for me.
If it's not working for you, make sure you're on a fresh install and not using any corrupted .pkgs. |

Running 1.22
I just did some copy/pasting with mixed success.
1. Did a clean install
2. Started a session on Foxmud by selecting it from the mudconnector list
3. opened/closed the session twice to get the autolog wizard triggered
4. I then opened the settings editor, clicked on the foxmud window, then selected file open from the menu in settings editor. I then opened my zmud fox.mud file
5. It converted all of my settings but put it in a package callled fox.mud
6. At this point a few things occured, a. I copied all of the settings by selecting them all with two clicks and the control or shift button (cant remember which) and copied them. I then renamed the autolog file in the foxmud window to autolog2 to avoid overwrite. I then pasted all of the settings to the foxmud package. First, just to re-affirm, the button states didnt paste with the buttons... I know this has been reported and is on the list, just wanted to back it up. Second, the buttons that show up in the fox.mud window still turn black. I thought this bug was supposed to be fixed... Third when I pasted the settings from fox.mud to foxmud it didnt paste all of them as I had selected in fact no triggers were pasted. Also when I pasted them and went back to the fox.mud window, the button states that showed up when I imported the fox.mud file had disappeared. Sorry if this is redunant to known bug reports. |

I'll check more into the copy/paste issues.
But you are really making this too hard on yourself. There is a much easier way to use your existing zMUD file:
1) Start a session on Foxmud by selecting it from the mudconnector list. But don't connect to the session yet.
2) Click the Edit Session action
3) Go to the Files tab
4) Click the Browse button and locate your existing fox.mud file. It will put fox.mud into the filename field.
5) Connect Offline and it will load and convert all of your zMUD settings.
I obviously need to write a section of the help file for zMUD users to explain this simple procedure. It's a lot better than trying to copy/paste all of your existing stuff and getting confused by packages. |

Perhaps a sticky thread too. I can see lots of people asking about this.

Just set up 1.23 and went to copy and paste a trigger into the same class with the intent of editing it and changing the name as a new alias. However when I pasted it, no new alias appeared as mentioned earlier in this thread. Are there plans to change this? I'm not sure if it's a bug or not... My suggestion would be to make it work like windows in that if you copy and paste it into the same class with a setting of the same name, that cmud prepends a "COPY OF' to the beginning of the setting or something similar...
