[1.19] Non-Critical...Help in settings package editor |
Ok, idiot request. I have the settings editor open and I'm looking for a help file, but I have to go to the main window to open the help files (references, tutorial, getting started). Is there a way to open them out of the settings editor as is? it's all together possible that I just missed it... If there isn't a way to open it, can we have a help menu installed as a default or at least be able to pick help as one of the customizable toolbar commands?

Is there a problem selecting Help from the main menu? I don't really want to duplicate menu items in every window, and since the main window should always be visible it seems like it's easy to just click on the Help command in the main menu.
Using custom buttons and the #CMD or #MENU commands you could create your own buttons that execute help commands and then add them via the customization menu. However, you won't be able to add them to the Settings Editor menu since it doesn't support the custom buttons yet.
Anyway, I'd be interested in knowing what the problem with just using the main help menu is. Is your main window covered up or something? |

Not a big deal, but I run two screens and I use help a LOT (hehe i need all the help I can get... ), and I usually run the main screen in one and the settings editor in the other, so I guess it just boils down to re-focusing on a different screen and a long mouse stroke to get to it. Also, I guess as a microsoft zombie, I am used to having a help menu or button on everything. call this a nice to have, certainly not a need to have!!!
P.S. Thanks for all the work you put into this!!!! |

Also, have you thought about keeping the help window open? It's non-modal, so it shouldn't interfere with the MUD window.
But I checked stuff like Outlook and it seems to put the Help menu everywhere, so I'll consider it. |

The problem with that is that if you have the Hide Taskbar option checked and minimise the help window, it hides behind the taskbar and can be a right bugger to get out again.
