uninstall |
I uninstalled 1.05 with plans to install 1.17, and upon uninstall, there are still a number of files and folders in the cmud directory... is uninstall supposed to wipe all of them? In addition, the cmud directory itself still exists, shouldn't the uninstaller remove all of these?

When your upgrading, you should be able to just run the newer install file without having to uninstall first, that way youll keep any session files and wotnot intact.
As for why the cmud directory still exists, only Zugg will probably be able to answer that, but it might have to do with retaining license information etc in case you decide to reinstall. Alot of software packages leave remaining directory info and files there for that and a number of other reasons. |

Uninstallers generally leave files that have been modified since the original install. Since you have changed configuration and probably some muds inside the CMUD folder then it'll not delete those incase you want to use them. Same as if you uninstall a game on a PC it rarely deletes all your saved games with it.
Best to manually delete the folder before doing a fresh reinstall |

Yes, the stuff that's left over is .pkg files and such that contain your specific settings. If you're not going to delete those manually, bear in mind that previous betas (especially 1.13 and 1.15) had many bugs that could cause corruption of settings, so if any of your settings are from those versions, they could cause problems.
