remove status bar and command line from windows

Every time I load up my layout, my four character windows show up and three chat logging windows. However, I don't want the status bars or command lines on these chat windows. Is there a setting that I can select so that I don't have to manually remove them (and resize the windows) every single time I load my layout? Nothing jumped out at me other than "Save Layout" which saves the position and size of the windows, but does not save whether or not a window retains its status bar/command line.

Set your window options the way you want, then save that window's settings. Generally, if you just save your layout and things revert back to how you don't want them to be it's because the options you changed are stored in the .mud files instead of the .lay file.
