[1.19] Local Variable Not Lining Up With Trigger

The trigger pattern is:
Code:
^There are (%w) obvious exits: ($exits:*).$

With the action of #say $exits

If it sees the following text from the mud:

There are four obvious exits: west, northwest, east, and south.

response: four
expected: west, northwest, east, and south

#say %2 does output the list of exits though.

The XML code export of the trigger is below.

Code:

<cmud>
<module>
  <record id="5243630">

    <kind>5</kind>
    <parent>5242880</parent>
    <pkgid>5242880</pkgid>
    <enabled>-1</enabled>
    <idname>^There are (%w) obvious exits: ($exits:*).$</idname>
    <options><opt><ArgList>$exits</ArgList></opt></options>
    <userval/>
    <val>#say $exits</val>
    <comment/>

    <subkind>0</subkind>
    <valkind>0</valkind>
    <opt>265</opt>
    <owner>5242880</owner>
    <userint/>
    <priority>7500</priority>
    <flag/>
    <state>0</state>
  </record>
</module>
</cmud>
