[1.17] Resetting of saved preferences on restart |
- Load package editor
- File and Save package as a new filename
- Close down cmud and restart
- Edit the session and click the files tab.
- The new saved version of the file doesnt match the curent filename like zmud used to.
- Browse and change to most recent version of settings
- save and Connect to mud or go offline.
- On load all preferences are preset.. most notably are the locations of all button pannels and the color preferences.
I know i could just save, but i like to have a different save catalogued each day. this is partly from my experiences of corrupted settings in zmud but also because my settings file changes daily.
Thanks zugg |

When you use the Save Package As option in the package editor, it only saves the actual script settings to the new filename, and not any of your preferences. This is done because when you load a new package you usually do not want it to change any of the preferences saved for your session. Remember that packages are meant to be like "addons" and you wouldn't want someone else to create a package that saved their preferences and then load it and get all of their preferences overwriting yours.
You *can* set the preferences for a package, but that requires going into the Preferences dialog and using the advanced features to select the specific module that you want to set the preferences for.
In any case, what I'm saying is that the Save Package As isn't meant to be used on your main session package. That's why it doesn't update the filename in the Files tab. I'll see about adding something like this in the future, but for now, just make daily backups of the *.pkg file outside of CMUD. Also, keep in mind that the latest version of CMUD will already make a backup of the package when you load it just in case something gets corrupted. |

Actually, I think I was wrong with my post. The Preferences should be saved with the actual Window or Module object itself. So if you have set the colors for a specific Window, and then save this window within a package, then the color preferences should get transferred along with it.
So I think this really is some sort of bug and I've added it to my list. |
