No new beta version this week :( |
I'm sorry to report that my record-breaking streak of not being sick for two years has come to an end. It seems that Chiara and I both picked up a bug somewhere and are both sick today. Yesterday I thought it was just bad allergies, but it seems to be worse than that. I don't think it's the flu, so hopefully we'll just be out for a day or so.
Next week is also a short week because of the Thanksgiving holiday here in the U.S. I also got a cracked tooth and have a dentist appointment on Tuesday to get a crown (yeah, just what I needed right now).
So, between being sick today and not having a full week next week, I think I'll just combine this week's version with next week and try to release 1.16 the day after Thanksgiving (a week from Friday tomorrow).
I'm hopeful that this won't effect the public release schedule, which is still planned for early December (about 3 weeks from now or so).
Keep those bug reports coming in. You guys are finding some good stuff. I'm happy that many of the really horrible bugs seem to be gone, but there are still plenty of other bugs to report and get fixed.
Right now my top bugs on the list are fixing the XML Import and dealing with crashes in the settings editor (like the crash when you delete a setting). Also the problems with closing a session. The settings editor and close session issues are top priority because they can both still cause a pkg file to get corrupted and I want to fix all of those corruption issues before the public release.
So be sure to keep sending in your automatted crash dumps whenever you get a severe crash. The more reports I get, the easier it is for me to determine the severity of the problem and to fix it.
Anyway, that's probably enough for now...my brain is already fuzzy from just posting this. I'll post another update tomorrow to let you know how we are doing. |

Do you want me to send in crash reports with no details of what happened? I have generally NOT sent in crash reports when it seemed random, or I couldn't reproduce it... which honestly is over 3/4 of the time. Do you want me to send in reports even with no coherent description (or none at all)?

Get well soon! I picked up some sort of illness last night, but I still had to come into work today because my primary hard drive died on me at the end of the day and I really needed to get it up and running again. Bleh.

Raven: I'd *prefer* coherent descriptions with crash reports. But if it's something you haven't seen before, definitely send it anyway. The only thing you don't need to send is the same crash over and over again. For example, once you have a bug that you can reproduce, it doesn't help to send in 20+ crash reports for that same bug. But if you get some wierd crash somewhere else, then always send it.
And yeah, I was sick all weekend, but am back to work today. |

Well, maybe. I'll see how I'm doing. Right now I'm coughing my brains out and the bug list is getting longer and longer as I get caught up on my email. But I'll do my best. |

So if I don't have any idea what caused a crash, send it in... but once I have a reproducable way to do it, with a written report in, I can ignore that error? Gotit.

Seems like alot of people are getting sick lately, just make sure your 100% well before you get back to work, or you might end up getting sick again, or just plain staying sick a long time.
