Thanks, Zugg! |
I feel kinda weird starting a thread like this in the beta forum, but there doesn't seem anywhere else for it to go. None of the other topics seemed right for it either, for some reason...
Regardless, I installed zMUD again today to play with a few things. It was a shocking experience. I'd been on a break from MUDing for a few months and hadn't used zMUD in that time and I'd forgotten just what it was like. Using CMUD for all this stuff recently has spoilt me
So yeah, I'd just like to take a minute to thank Zugg for all the countless improvements that CMUD has brought. There's still a way to go until it's ready to release, but I'm already loving the new UI, the new scripting possibilities... well, the list's too long to go into. But really, Zugg, thankyou. I almost feel bad getting all this for less than the price of a KFC. |

Haha, ditto. I can't use zMud anymore. There's so many wonderful improvements. One I just found a few days ago... you can make multi-state triggers by just DRAGGING one trigger 'inside' another. It's really slick. I could never go back, CMud, Buggy as it may be, is a big improvement over zMud.

For me it's local variables :)
But thanks for the post...It's nice to read a thread like this now and then for a change. I hope more and more people agree with you as CMUD becomes better and more stable.
And yeah, a few months from now there will be a lot of people wondering how they MUDded with zMUD instead of CMUD.
Thanks for the nice comments! |

I love compiled scripts, #SWITCH, and the local variables. Those local variables, especially named arguments in aliases or triggers, make things so much easier to read! I'm also looking forward to converting my zMUD scripts without having to worry about #PRIORITY and the mis-translation of parameters calling aliases from one to another. I've had to learn too many workarounds in zMUD, so I'm glad to see that CMUD is built from the ground up to use a solid scripting engine. Thanks, Zugg!

I have to echo Larkin's comments about #SWITCH, local variables and an end to zMUD workarounds and quirky syntax. But I'm also looking forward to some more distant enhancements expected next year.
