Feature Request: Persistent Edit Window |
Current Behavior:
Edit windows are not persistent automatically. They do not save their contents when you close CMud, though you can save it manually. The File->Save window also defaults to the root CMud folder, rather than the current session folder. Finally, if you rename the Edit window, and restart CMud, the Edit window returns to the screen (if it was up when you closed), but the name givn to it is lost.
Desired Behavior:
It would be nice if the edit window was persistent across sessions. My recommendation is to save a .txt file in the session folder with the same name as the Edit window (so, if I rename the Edit window with the name 'Todo', a file Todo.txt would be saved in the session folder.
When the edit window is brought back onscreen when opening a session, it should check for a .txt file with the same name as the edit window, and load it on start.
Of course, this also means that the name of the Edit window, if altered, should also be persisted across application sessions.
Finally (and simplest), could the File->Save dialog in the Edit window default to the current session folder, rather than the CMud folder? |

Changing the default folder when saving is certainly easy and added to the list.
However, the editor should already be prompting you to save files that have been modified when exiting. If it's not doing this, let me know.
What I can probably do in the future is save a list of the filenames that were open in the editor. But saving the contents is something I'll have to think more about. |
