Of cMud , Linux , Wine , and Mapping |
As cMud is still in beta, I wont even ask yet "Will it be ported to linux?" for fear of being socked!
But, to you Linux users out there, I do ask...
Any luck with cMud under Wine ?
Does the mapper work?
So far cMud (unregistered) is working for me flawlessly under wine (I'll have to check what version/flavor of wine), with the following exceptions.
~The buttons for any pop-up windows repeat over themselfs a bit. So one button will graphically look like three buttons stacked over themselfs. (Very minor inconvenience so far)
~There is a bit of lag when going through the menus... as in you click a button and it takes a moment (say 2 seconds) for the button to indicate it's been clicked, then to perform it's function.
~The mapper doesn't work. :( This was the same hang-up I had with zMud in Wine.
Just curious about any other Linux users experiences so far!

Congratulations on having success with CMUD under Wine. I regret to inform you though CMUD will not be ported to Linux. This is largely due to the development environment that CMUD is being written under. As a matter of fact CMUD is written to take advantages of the advances and features made possible by Windows XP and eventually Vista; and in so doing, bypassing some of the limitations inherent to Win9x and ME compatibility.

When the mapper module for CMUD is rewritten next year, it *might* work under Wine (since it will not be using MDAC anymore).
