About the new 1.18 version

For some reason I'm completely brain-dead today. So, I decided to go ahead and release what I had for 1.18 to let people beat on it. This isn't the "RC1" release that I was hoping for, but hopefully I can get that out next week.

In particular, I still haven't had a chance to fix the issues with button states in the package editor.

My main focus on this version was to fix data corruption problems. So lots of stuff was fixed in the package editor for dragging/dropping to packages, copy/paste, etc. If you find any way to reproduce any data corruption, please make a new forum topic for 1.18 and mark it urgent.

I also finished the implementation of the separate Data Files path in the installer. Give this a try and make sure it's putting the proper files in the proper location. Also, if someone could really test this with normal user accounts, I'd really appreciate it. The idea is that the Admin needs to install CMUD, but if they select the option (1) to put the MUD session files in the user's Documents folder then a normal non-admin user should be able to run CMUD without any file permission errors.

It's important that the installer works well since this is the installer I'll be using for the public release.

Sorry (again) if I didn't fix your favorite bug. I've got more bugs on my list than I can possibly fix before the public version, so right now I'm just trying to focus on the major issues that cause data corruption or bad crashes.

Thanks for your support on this.

I installed CMUD with the %Documents% option, without deleting my existing structure in the CMUD directory first. When I opened the new version, it was still using the data in the installation directory and not in My Documents.

EDIT: Yep, just did a totally fresh install rather than an update and it's still not working.

interesting couple bugs here....

I did a un-install through control-pannel, (then deleted the c:\program files\cmud directory)

Re-installed 1.18, and specified it be installed in D:\program files\cmud, and for mud files be stored in my-documents

Cmud got installed in C:\program files\cmud, and my mud files are also in C:\program-files.
the good news is, the re-install may have fixed my session corruption issues I had.
-- Edit -- nope session corruption issues still hapening.

Remember, please post bug reports to new topic threads.

Regarding the file installation area: Remember that the registry key in HKEY_LOCAL_USER/Software/Zuggsoft/CMUD/Datadir will override the installer, and this key is probably left over from the previous 1.17 release. You'll need to delete the key in HKEY_LOCAL_USER so that the key added by the installer in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE will take effect.
