Need help with syntax checking and word wrap issue |
Some people have reported problems using the syntax checking when word-wrap is enabled. I need to collect more information on this and get some terms clarified because I can't find a problem.
First, please recognize the difference between "Syntax Checking" and "Syntax Highlighting". In the settings editor, the menu command that says "Auto Syntax Check" really should read "Enable Syntax Highlighting".
Syntax Highlighting is the coloring of your script that happens as you type. The Syntax Check command is a command that you execute that reports any syntax errors in a message at the bottom of the window.
OK, now that the terminology is clear...in the Text Editor window, it is true that the Syntax Highlighting seems to be broken, regardless of whether text is wrapped or not. But the Syntax Check command seems to work fine, regardless of whether text is wrapped or not.
If I go into the Settings Editor and create a new Alias, then the Syntax Highlighting (the Auto Syntax Check menu command) seems to work fine regardless of the word-wrap setting, and the Syntax Check command also seems to work fine.
Obviously I will fix the syntax highlighting in the Text Editor window.
But some people reported issues that seemed to be related to whether WordWrap was enabled. If you are one of these people, please post more details on exactly what is happening, and be sure to post the *exact text* that you are entering. Also be sure to specify whether you are entering the text into the Text Editor window, or into the Settings Editor window.
If I don't get more help with this, then this issue (the issue with WordWrap effecting syntax checking) will go back to the bottom of the priority list. |

syntax checking doesnt properly parse jack with word wrap enabled. Its like it doesnt read the entire command after the word wrap and generates bogus errors left and right. If i can happen to get a big enough chance after work tomorrow i will post an example . Lets just say the errors arent errors once word wrap is disabled. Its just simply not seeind the end of the commands properly.

Edb, did you read my message? You didn't tell me if you are talking about the Text Editor window or the Settings Editor window. I asked for the *exact text* that you are entering. You didn't supply any of the details I have asked for.
I have yet to find any problem with the Syntax Check and word wrap in either the Text Editor or Settings Editor, which is why I need more detail and specifics. |
