CMUD 1.04 Released! |
The 1.04 BETA version of CMUD has been released. Please consult the Version History for details on changes.
The version history doesn't really do justice to the amount of changes in this version. With the complete overhaul and redesign of the package/window/module system I hope to have fixed a lot of the problems with the previous beta versions. However, with all of these changes I'm sure there are some new bugs. So I look forward to receiving all of your new bug reports.
There is also a small item at the end of the 1.04 version history that mentions fixing various crashes. I fixed about 50 different crashes based upon the crash dumps I received in the previous versions. However, I still have over 100 reports in the database.
The problem is that the code has changed so much now, that the older crash reports are no longer very useful.
So, with this new version, please submit any crash that you get, even if you previously submitted it already. I'm considering archiving all of the reports from the older versions since so much has changed.
If you sent Feedback (vs a crash dump) then I still have that, but it doesn't hurt to remind me of any critical issue that you think needs to be fixed.
This is still definitely a BETA version. I actually used it to play a MUD for several hours last night, so I think it's a lot more useable as a real MUD client now. But I'm certain there are still hundreds of bugs to be fixed. I expect CMUD to be in beta status for a couple more months.
This version is mostly still a bug fix. The items on the "What's missing from CMUD" still apply. So please don't bother reporting a bug or sending feedback on a known issue in that list.
Remember to start a new Forum Topic for each new bug report, and to be as specific as you can when reporting bugs. The bugs are starting to get more and more obscure, which makes reproducing them harder and harder.
The 30-day trial was *not* reset in this Beta version. This is another test of our copy protection system, so if your trial gets reset, please let me know so that I can fix those license issues before the public release.
IMPORTANT: It's possible that *.PKG files created in previous Beta versions might not load properly because of all of the changes in 1.04. If this happens, please try to go back and load your original *.MUD file from zMUD. I'm not concerned about compatibility with the first couple of beta versions, so don't bother reporting issues where a previous pkg file doesn't load.
Thanks for all of your help during the beta testing. The bug reports and crash dumps that you have sent have been extremely helpful in fixing many bugs. I hope 1.04 is a good example of how CMUD will continue to improve. |

Thank you Zugg... I was checking for it earlier. I can't wait to get my hands on it and I'm sure, as always, you've done a great job.

Just a reminder:
As always, before trying a new version (especially for Beta versions, but I think it's a good idea in any case), BACKUP your settings.
