optimizing my connect for speed |
Basically, here's the lowdown. My mud reboots. And after it does, the first one to certain places gets good things. Once i'm on, I have a script that can do the work for me. What I want to know, is how can I optimize my zmud to connect to the game the fastest right after the machine reboots?

thanks in advance for the help! |

View\Preferences\General then scroll down to Connection and play with the reconnection timers.

If you hover over them the bottom of the preference screen has info as to what they do, but basically "Reconnect Time" works for the first 20 attempts then "Reconnect Time 2" works for the second 20 attempts and "Connect timeout" is how long zMUD tries to connect for with each attempt. The defaults are 10, 60 and 5, so on the first attempt at reconnecting it will try to connect to the mud for 5 seconds, if it fails it will wait for 10 seconds and then try to connect again for 5 seconds, it will do so 20 times after which it will wait 60 seconds after each failing each 5 second connection attempt. The minimum the values can be are 10, 10 and 1, I don't think I would recommend 1 second for a connect attempt but 2 should be fine.
