Windows Emulator and zMud |
Hi, I've been thinking bout buying the new macbook and using an emulator(parallels or boot camp) to run zmud. But, i'm afraid zmud won't run properly on the emulator, or has some other buggy problems.
Does anyone here use zmud on an emulator on a mac?
Views and comments on how zMud functions on the emulators, namely parallels and/or boot camp, would be much appreciated.
Thanks |

zmud and cmud work fine through emulators/virtual machines if setup properly

I don't think anyone has tested, but I can't see any reason at all why it wouldn't work perfectly on WinXP with bootcamp, since Intel Macs aren't much different from PCs. It's been tested and known to work on Wine and virtual PCs though as edb said

I have tested it just realize it will never be AS GOOD of performance as it would be on the platform as it should be. It will perform well though if its setup right :D

Hmm, what do you mean never AS GOOD? In what way?
and how do you set it up right? isn't there only 1 way to do it? |

emulators and virtual machines will always lack full power performance. They will always run a bit slower.
And there is a right set of instructions for every type.
I.E. installing in VMWARE will prove to be extremely slow without the vm tools installed or if its not installed with the proper vmware hardware drivers etc.
realistically in computer terms there is never just one right. I.E. triggers work fine on zuggs machine so for him the software is setup right however we require different steps to be added because they arent. Being setup right all depends on the user, machine, software etc. always. So right for me isnt necessarily right for you. |

Yeah, i sort of figured it'll run a little slower. Just concerned how much slower it'll be.

The thing that will matter the most is RAM. My virtual machines run better the more RAM they have to use. I had to upgrade my computer to 2 Gb of RAM. I try to give each VM 700 or more megs of RAM.
