Bug ? another I think.. with zMud file operations |
Hi,
I'm using zMud 7.21 with Windows XP.
I am seeing, a bug I think, with zMud and files. I have a file, eq.txt.. it is about 300kb. I have a simple trigger that writes to this file using
#file 1 eq.txt
#write 1 %concat( "%1", " = ", "%2", " = ", "%3", " = ", "%4")
#close 1
This works usually. But after leaving zMud on for a while it seems, it eventually just stops working. I first thought.. maybe zMud changed its working directory (it does that sometimes).. so I searched for other eq.txts. But none. It opens the file OK apparently, and closes OK. It just refuses to write.
When this is happening, if I open eq.txt file with windows explorer and try to save to it, I see message similar to:
"Cannot create the eq.txt file.
Make sure the path and filename are correct."
This is the message I would get if I would try to save the file while zMud or another program is already using it. Except no other program IS using it. My guess is zMud still has it open but thinks it is closed.. hmm. If I close zMud completely and reopen it, it will write to the file again.. but for a while only. It is very annoying. |

I have trouble with writing log files a lot of the time, too. It's fine for most activity, but when you get a lot of text in a short period (like when I fight someone), it just seems to omit random chunks. It may be an issue with #GAG that kills too much, or maybe it's just a general file writing bug in zMUD. Definitely some strange and unexpected behavior there, though.

I've never had any problems with logs... but then again I don't do extensive reviews of my logs (usually only when I'm double checking updates to scripts.)

long *bump* :)
Still am having this problem. I can't figure out what causes it. It seems very random, but very annoying still. Mainly because when it happens I have to completely close zmud, reload, and in the process my windows get reset and i have to resize them each time. The window thing is probably fixable but i haven't bothered looking into it yet.
Anyone else having this problem with file not being written to or saving? |
