Up/Down levels in automapper

Hiya, I do not know if this has been asked before, but I would like to know if there is a way to disable the up/down function that causes the map to go up one level or down a level..
I am trying to map out areas, and I find it quite frustrating that I would have to do everything differently.. If there was a way to toggle it so that I keep the same floor in the map, but use the northeast/west and southeast/west as the up and down instead of losing the main floor map since I cannot print the map out unless I save the whole screenshot into a bitmap.
I know I should go buy the zmapper, but currently I must pay off my debts before I can aquire one :) (patience!)

Thanks for any response in advance :)

there's no direct way to toggle it, but have you tried the non-standard exits way?

>up>e

This should work, so long as you remember not to use the + or - keys or otherwise directly use an up/down direction in map mode (I suppose you might be able to disable them as well).

how do you mean by the non-standard way? You mean like the offline mapping?? That takes quite a bit of work readjusting every move I make :) Thanks for trying tho. I cant even get it to let me cut some rooms off each level, and put it on the main level where I want it *shrug* I guess there always have to be something that just doesnt work the way I want it :)

As MattLofton suggested, you should be able to use the
Code:
>COMMAND>DIRECTION
syntax to create other levels in the same view.

Like typing 'e' or 'east' to move east, >COMMAND>DIRECTION will send 'COMMAND' to the mud and cause the automapper to create the next room in the DIRECTION direction.

This is used to create non-standard exits (standard exits being N, NE, E, SE, S, etc.) such as >enter building>e to create a link to a room to the east, even though the mapper wouldn't normally recognize 'enter building' as being an exit.

Using '>up>e' should override the mapper's normal tendency to switch levels and instead begin mapping the next-higher-level to the east of the current room.
