Carriage returns replaced with "Squares"

I have not changed versions since 7.05 came out, but for some reason my trigger scrips have been acting very strange lately for no apparent reason. Whenever I am editing a trigger script and i click save, all of the carriage returns are replaced by a character that looks like a square and the entire trigger script is condenced into a single line. The script still functions fine but it is very irritating when trying to read the code. Does anyone know what is wrong or how to fix this?
