Path Expansion Question

In my MUD (Achaea) there is a skill called Dash. This can move you through up to 15 rooms in a single "step."

What I'm trying to figure out is how to take a path, like "5w,e,se,8s,se,6s,sw,2s" and evaluate it out so that I'll try to DASH when I speedwalk from one place to another, but it doesn't dash if the number (like 3s) is <=2 nor does it overshoot (if I need to go 4s and there's 6s rooms, it doesn't dash)

Just thinking about it, it sounds a bit out of the mapper's class, but I can ask!

Thanks in advance!

Not an answer, but maybe a few pointers:

Hmm, thanks. I TRIED searching, but didn't come up with anything.

Well, I figured out THAT way of tracking dashing. I was trying to figure out a way to make the mapper dash instead of walk instead. Oh well.
